En ing\u00e9nierie, elle d\u00e9signe la capacit\u00e9 de m\u00e9moire d&rsquo;un mat\u00e9riau \u00e0 revenir \u00e0 son \u00e9tat initial. Mais qu&rsquo;en est-il des personnes ? Et, surtout, est-il vraiment possible d&rsquo;augmenter notre propre r\u00e9silience ? Cet article nous donne quelques indices<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Au d\u00e9but d&rsquo;une ann\u00e9e qui suscite de nombreux espoirs et peut-\u00eatre trop d&rsquo;attentes, tout semble indiquer que la <strong>r\u00e9silience<\/strong> restera un concept d&rsquo;actualit\u00e9. Ce terme qui a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 dans des domaines tr\u00e8s sp\u00e9cifiques (ing\u00e9nierie, psychologie, \u00e9cologie ou sciences sociales) a atteint le grand public comme l&rsquo;un des mots finalistes de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re selon Fund\u00e9u (une fondation dont l&rsquo;objectif principal est de promouvoir l&rsquo;utilisation correcte de l&rsquo;espagnol dans les m\u00e9dias).<\/p>\n<p>Dans le contexte qui nous int\u00e9resse ici, celui des personnes, la r\u00e9silience est d\u00e9finie comme \u00ab\u00a0la capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 surmonter, \u00e0 se r\u00e9tablir apr\u00e8s un stimulus d\u00e9favorable\u00a0\u00bb. Si l&rsquo;objectif semble clair, le n\u0153ud du probl\u00e8me est de savoir <strong>comment l&rsquo;atteindre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsqu&rsquo;une situation d\u00e9favorable nous affecte de mani\u00e8re significative et prolong\u00e9e, les premi\u00e8res r\u00e9actions ne sont souvent pas les meilleures.<\/p>\n<p>De nombreuses personnes veulent revenir \u00e0 la situation ant\u00e9rieure au probl\u00e8me, comme si elles essayaient de se r\u00e9veiller d&rsquo;un mauvais r\u00eave. Elles passent alors beaucoup de temps \u00e0 se lamenter sur la situation ou \u00e0 regretter le pass\u00e9 au lieu de faire face \u00e0 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>D&rsquo;autres personnes s&rsquo;imaginent faire un bond dans le futur, jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 ce qu&rsquo;elles aient surmont\u00e9 ce qu&rsquo;elles pr\u00e9voient \u00eatre une p\u00e9riode difficile. Par exemple, au d\u00e9but de la pand\u00e9mie, une id\u00e9e r\u00e9pandue \u00e9tait qu&rsquo;il faudrait simplement attendre 3 ou 4 mois, et \u00ab\u00a0tenir bon\u00a0\u00bb jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9, lorsque la situation serait soi-disant meilleure. S&rsquo;il est vrai qu&rsquo;une attitude naturellement positive (un m\u00e9lange d&rsquo;optimisme et de r\u00e9alisme) aide \u00e0 faire face aux situations difficiles, nous pouvons aussi d\u00e9velopper diff\u00e9rentes actions et comportements \u00e0 cette fin.<\/p>\n<p>J&rsquo;ai s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 ici <strong>cinq principes d&rsquo;action<\/strong> qui me semblent essentiels pour favoriser la r\u00e9silience.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Accepter la situation.<\/strong>Il convient de souligner que l&rsquo;acceptation ne signifie pas \u00ab\u00a0r\u00e9signation\u00a0\u00bb (qui nous conduirait \u00e0 adopter une attitude passive), mais simplement reconna\u00eetre les difficult\u00e9s que nous traversons dans le pr\u00e9sent et laisser le pass\u00e9 derri\u00e8re nous pour ne pas tomber dans le pi\u00e8ge de la nostalgie ou de l&rsquo;\u00e9vasion. Verbaliser le probl\u00e8me et exprimer ce que l&rsquo;on ressent \u00e0 son sujet est souvent b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour surmonter cette phase d&rsquo;acceptation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>D\u00e9finir les facteurs sur lesquels nous avons un contr\u00f4le<\/strong>et identifier ceux qui sont hors de notre port\u00e9e. Il est temps d&rsquo;abandonner le r\u00f4le de \u00ab\u00a0victime des circonstances\u00a0\u00bb et de concentrer notre temps et notre \u00e9nergie sur les situations relevant de notre sph\u00e8re d&rsquo;influence. Et si nous n&rsquo;avons pas toujours la capacit\u00e9 de changer r\u00e9ellement une situation, nous pouvons au moins modifier notre perception des \u00e9v\u00e9nements et notre fa\u00e7on de penser.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Demander de l\u2019aide aux autres.<\/strong>De nombreuses personnes h\u00e9sitent \u00e0 franchir cette \u00e9tape pour diff\u00e9rentes raisons : timidit\u00e9 ou fiert\u00e9, peur de para\u00eetre faible ou de recevoir un non comme r\u00e9ponse, ou tout simplement ne pas vouloir s&rsquo;imposer. Il existe \u00e9galement le risque de se replier sur soi-m\u00eame en r\u00e9action \u00e0 un \u00e9v\u00e9nement douloureux, alors qu&rsquo;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que le fait d&rsquo;aller vers les autres et de sentir leur soutien est particuli\u00e8rement important pour se remettre d&rsquo;une situation d\u00e9favorable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Faire preuve d\u2019humour.<\/strong>Rire de soi ou de la situation qui nous affecte nous permet de prendre de la distance par rapport \u00e0 nos inqui\u00e9tudes, de voir les choses avec plus de recul et de relativiser leur v\u00e9ritable importance, que nous avons tendance \u00e0 exag\u00e9rer au d\u00e9part. Outre l&rsquo;humour, la pratique de certaines activit\u00e9s permet \u00e9galement de faire baisser le niveau d&rsquo;anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 et de canaliser notre frustration : le sport, la m\u00e9ditation, tout passe-temps ou t\u00e2che qui demande de la concentration nous fera oublier la source du stress. Face \u00e0 la perte, il est essentiel de consid\u00e9rer les choses que nous avons encore, et sur lesquelles nous pouvons nous appuyer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tirer les le\u00e7ons de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience.<\/strong>Les situations difficiles sont souvent des occasions d&rsquo;apprentissage de la vie, mais au d\u00e9but, nous ne percevons que la douleur de la perte. Avec le temps, nous sommes capables de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 l&rsquo;adversit\u00e9 et d&rsquo;y trouver un sens. De cette fa\u00e7on, nous nous constituons un r\u00e9pertoire d&rsquo;exp\u00e9riences qui nous aidera \u00e0 l&rsquo;avenir, lorsqu&rsquo;un autre \u00e9v\u00e9nement perturbateur se produira.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>En d\u00e9finitive, et comme l&rsquo;illustre la fable du ch\u00eane et du roseau, la r\u00e9silience n&rsquo;est pas une question de force mais de flexibilit\u00e9 et d&rsquo;adaptabilit\u00e9.
